I am a very strange person

According to my wife at around 7am this morning I started beeping.  (I'm laughing hysterically as I write this)  I said, "beep, beep, beep, beep..." She woke up and asked me if I have a snooze button.  This was seemingly enough to bring me out of that mindset (the beeping had no relation to any dreams I had last night).

So, apparently I do have a biological clock and it has an alarm.

I remember

In NZ I'd have the day off, watch fireworks and enjoy the revelry.  Here... I go grocery shopping, run other errands, and look for work.

Humbolt High School in St. Paul.

I applied to this job a while ago (and kind of assumed it was all done with). I am really excited, not because it is so late and I stand a good chance, but because they want me to have a ten minute lesson plan prepared for them. I get to TEACH!!!

So, which of the following do you think I should do...

Poll #1461083 Which lesson plan should I use for the interview tomorrow?
Open to: Friends, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 8

What lesson plan should I use? (10 minutes long designed for 10th graders)

The new star trek was good.

It was not phenomenal...but it was good.  My biggest problem had to do with Zachary Quinto as Spock.  I really liked every other character in the film, the plot, and the script...but, Zach didn't convince me he was anyone other than Sylar.

But I am going to see the barber.

Tonight the Barber of Seville is playing and I am going.  I'm really excited... though I can't get the song from Repo: A Genetic Opera (At the Opera Tonight) out of my head.

I'm pretty sure no one will be dressed like Bugs Bunny or Elmer Fudd...but, It will still be great.

What? It isn't Even 10 yet?!!?!?!?

So, last night I went with the lovely

  and

to see Monsters Versus Aliens at midnight.  (thus the exasporation at it only being 10)  It was a fun movie!  Though instead of launching into how much I laughed (and how at times we were the only group laughing)  I am going to the social side of things, the message (if you please).

strong females )

In many ways I felt the whole point of the movie is to mock the old notions of the female lead.  It isn't exactly a new story about finding ones strength from within, but it was so beautifuly blatent that one can't help but applaud the idea that the only character that does ANYTHING worthwhile is a female.  Every other character is comic relief.  While in the more recent animated movies women have been taking a stronger lead, in this film she takes it and kicks ass.  I'm too tired to really go into details (and I don't want to post spoilers)...now I take a brief nap...if only.

Come on...Really?

So, just as I get to stop worrying about a job... I have to deal with my mom having another stroke. (at least thats what it sounds like)
If it was a stroke it was small.  She is fine, there was just a lot of spasms along her right side...but still. ARGH.

Excited

Interview monday

So I have an interview monday, for another Long Term Sub position...it isn't bad (at least this one is full time).
I of course was dreaming of a full time position that didn't involve hunting for another job this spring...but thats the few years of teaching.  The school is the same one I did my student teaching at, which is cool, since the guy calling was very happy to hear I've been teaching and excited that I wanted to come back. (it could be he is desperate...but I like to think I make a good impression)

Right now I am not in a good mood.  I am tired, antsy, and a bit wonky.  I have so much I want to do, but so little energy to do it.  I would lay down to take a nap, except the coffee I consumed would prevent any actual rest.  (poor planning on my part)
Today is my Mom's birthday, so it is dinner with her for the evening, it should be fun and relaxing.

Like, I'm totally on vay-cay
